A variety of techniques and machines, each suited to specific contexts, can be used to prepare and treat surfaces: among the most common operations are scarifying and grinding.
Quick and easy scarifying
Scarifying consists of removing excess or deteriorated layers from a surface or floor, to prepare it for subsequent work, such as grinding and the application of coatings or resins, or to lower it to the required level.
A highly versatile and effective solution for small to medium-sized areas is the SEASCAR 200, designed for fast, even milling of asphalt, concrete, stone, floor tiles, screeds and paints. The drum is 200 mm wide and can be supplied with bush hammers or milling cutters.
The bush hammer system produces rough, grooved surfaces, for example to treat floors that tend to become smooth over time, causing slips and other problems.
The milling cutter system produces rough surfaces without the grooves, for example to prepare the surface for laying porcelain stoneware.
The ergonomic side lever makes the machine easier to manoeuvre while keeping the set adjustments.
Hand-held and floor grinders
As well as for treating marble and granite, grinding is also used to produce mirror-finish concrete, to prepare for adhesive application, to prepare floors for resin coating or anti-slip painting in industrial settings, for HACCP-compliant food-handling areas, and much more.
By choosing the machines best suited to the specific need, you can grind non-aggressively, opting for specific diamond modules with coarse, medium or fine grit.
Among hand-held grinders, SEAGRIND 125 stands out for its mechanical clutch combined with an electronic power stabiliser board, ideal for work in confined spaces or for finishing work started with larger grinders, such as grinding flush to walls or on walls. It takes grinding plates with a diameter of 125 mm (shown in the photo).
Among floor machines, the SEAGRIND 280 offers an excellent ratio of performance to working time per square metre, thanks to its speed of 1.400 rpm, and is suitable for smaller areas.
It weighs just 55 kg and has 1 disc with a diameter of 280 mm and 6 modules with quick snap-in fitting. The guard is equipped with accessories for grinding flush to walls, on both the left and the right.
For medium to large surfaces, the ideal machine is undoubtedly the SEAGRIND 550, which runs at up to 1.720 rpm with 3 tool-holder satellites and the option of locking the planetary carrier disc depending on the work to be carried out. Speed and orbital movement (right-left) can be adjusted independently.
In short: 5 reasons to choose the SEAGRIND 550
1- Speed adjustable in 10 positions
2- Two directions of rotation
3- Planetary disc rotation can be disabled for rough grinding work
4- The machine is available in single-phase and three-phase versions
5- Machine weight can be increased with dedicated shaped ballast weights, a key solution for the initial rough grinding of concrete or glue.
Grinding plates and modules
The wide choice of grinding plates (diamond, with laser-welded segments, sintered and vacuum-brazed) for hand-held machines and of diamond modules for floor machines (available in grits for coarse, semi-fine and fine finishes) allows any type of surface to be roughed, ground and polished, and any substance that clogs tools to be removed, such as adhesives, epoxy resins, mastics, adhesive tar and elastic materials.
Maximum reliability
The breadth of the SEA Technology surface treatment range allows construction companies and industry professionals to identify the solution best suited to their needs.
These are machines made in Italy that, in addition to performance, ensure ergonomics and comfort for the operator. Gear drive systems instead of toothed belts give them maximum reliability.
